Urinary Tract Infection Home Treatment - The Baking Soda Solution

Baking soda is only recommended if there are substantial amounts of vitamin C intakes, in order to balance the acid to alkaline levels in the body.

One urinary tract infection home treatment often recommended is baking soda. According to suggestions, simply mix about half a teaspoon of baking soda to 8 ounces of water and it will work effectively as a UTI cure.

However, this is not simply the case. Baking soda is only recommended if there are substantial amounts of vitamin C intakes, in order to balance the acid to alkaline levels in the body.

There is more to this UTI home treatment than simply stating its qualities as having the ability to balance the pH level. Unless the person taking in the baking soda treatment knows for sure that his body has certain conditions that needs pH balance, he is at risk of injuring himself further.

Baking soda is said to be a versatile product. In fact, it is also widely recommended as an effective cleaning material. This substance is actually described as caustic poison, hence there should be great care in taking it as a urinary tract infection home treatment. Here are some important facts about this substance:

• Accordingly, a teaspoon of baking soda is equivalent to about 1,100 mg up to 1,300 mg of sodium and a half teaspoon equate to about 616 mg of sodium. As an added information, the sodium content in our body needs to be controlled and has to maintain balance with other minerals in our body particularly with potassium.

Any excess of sodium will set off a chain of events that can cause improper functions of the kidneys as well as of the blood circulation. Hence, taking in baking soda without taking into consideration other health issues may cause more harm to the kidneys.

• Baking soda will not work well for people with hypertension, kidney and liver problems and even for children as well as pregnant women because of its sodium content.

• Other studies disclosed that baking soda will also result to a depletion of some of the body's vitamins and minerals especially vitamin B and folic acid.

• One cannot rely on baking soda alone as a urinary tract infection home treatment. Improper use of baking soda may lead to a blockage of the colon and can also cause another case of infection.

• High intakes of this substance can result to an alteration of the blood's electrolytes which may result to thirst, dizziness, disorientation, muscular tics and at worst, seizure.

• Other possible side effects if baking soda is ingested as an unwarranted treatment, are:

1. lack of appetite or interest in food;

2. the urge to frequently urinate;

3. severe headaches;

4. mood swings;

5. debilitation or weakening;

• Other warnings about baking soda, if taken internally as a treatment for UTI or other forms of infection :

1. Treatments with dosages of baking soda should not be taken for more than two weeks.

2. There should be no more than seven doses of 1/2 teaspoons within 24 hours. For persons who are 60 years old and above, the dose taken for the day should not be more than 3 half teaspoon doses.

3. Taking in the un-dissolved baking soda portion of a baking soda mixture can cause serious injury.

4. Taking in baking soda treatment if your stomach is full from food and drink can cause a person severe stomach pains.

The above information are some of the facts about baking soda, which are not discussed in detail when recommended as a urinary tract infection home treatment. Hence, this is exactly the reason, why people who tend to resort to home remedies are advised to seek the doctor's approval first. It is possible that there are medical and scientific possibilities that a layman or an ordinary individual is not aware of.

Number of problems can be associated with the urinary tract and the connected organs. Urinary tract infection covers a number of different organs. Unsweetened blueberry or cranberry juice can actually help flush out the bacteria that cause UTI.

This is not a very helpful article, as a lot of vital information is missing.

"Baking soda is only recommended if there are substantial amounts of vitamin C intakes, in order to balance the acid to alkaline levels in the body." --> What constitutes a 'substantial' vitamin C intake?

"High intakes of this substance can result to an alteration of the blood's electrolytes" --> Again, how much is a 'high intake'?

"Any excess of sodium will set off a chain of events that can cause improper functions of the kidneys as well as of the blood circulation." --> So how much is an excess?

I don't believe or trust any of this. Baking Soda is a proven cure for UTI's. It' sbeen researched extensively and proven. It's a shame that dr's/ Big Pharma don't want to admit this because they can't put a patent on baking soda and make billions of dollars on it like they can antibiotics.

Every one admits that life seems to be not very cheap, nevertheless different people require money for various issues and not every one gets enough money. So to receive good loan or term loan will be a right way out.

This article puts me on edge. For one thing, the last time I had a UTI I tried the baking soda treatment. I was almost in tears from the pain, and 30 mins after taking baking soda the pain was gone. It really works well and I had no side effects. Who is this Alvin Hopkinson? He's not a Dr, otherwise it would obviously state that in his little profile blurb and his name would have "MD" after it. It would say "he graduated from Harvard Medical School and has been practicing for 17 years" or some such thing. All it says is that he is an "avid health researcher". Well shoot, so am I, because I google natural remedies every day online. And his website is "Trusted MD". Um, okay, I could make a website named that too, but who claimes he is trusted, and since I already believe he's not an MD, there goes that claim. I'm sure eating a box of baking soda with a spoon is not good for you. But a half teaspoon in water does take the pain away and is fine, that's just my opinion.,

Well, I've tried baking soda to treat a recurring UTI (I was having them more and more often, always treated with antibiotics, but last time I decided to try this first). It was almost-immediately successful, and I haven't had one since (9 months now, and I'd had three in the previous 6 months, so I'll call that significant).

That said, I DO consume lots of vitamin C, and lots of potassium, and am fairly alkaline - all due to drinking green smoothies for breakfast every morning - so it's possible that some of his warnings are kind of true.

My biggest complaint about this article is that it seems to be fear-mongering - stating all of the dangers of baking soda (take it without water, and it will burn your throat!). But things like "There should be no more than seven doses of 1/2 teaspoons within 24 hours" go beyond the recommended amount anyway. If you're only having 1 or 2 doses per day, do the same warnings apply?

People wouldn't need home remedies if doctors and pharmacy's didn't charge so much. Make the proper medications and sell them over the counter if our health is so important.

I've had chronic UTI's for about 16 years verified with urine cultures They were talking about getting me on a low level antibiotic every day when I found this cure. The baking soda water cocktail has been an absolute miracle for me. You should only need to use it once, max twice, and as others stated it cures the burn and the infection in less than 45 minutes. Then after about an hour and a half I start pouring in the water again. Your body balances itself back out quickly enough.

The bad news? Amazon still isn't a terribly profitable company. After eking out $97 million in profit last quarter, it reported $82 million in net income this time around. There's a reason CEO Jeff Bezos had to reassure investors this month that his company is not, in fact, a charitable organization.And that isn't expected to turn around in the immediate future: Its guidance for the second quarter calls for operating income somewhere between a gain of $10 million and a loss of $340 million. Yes, there's a real possibility Amazon could lose a third of a billion dollars for the quarter.

If you really want to stop and prevent urinary tract infections, you need to get some d-mannose. 90% of all infections are caused by a type of bacteria that d-mannose can stop and prevent. It's great and literally saved my life. I even created a website to teach others about this. I was at my breaking point and had tried every remedy known to man. When I found out about d-mannose, I tried it and I have not suffered since. It's not anything that you need a prescription for and you can get it at some health food stores. I talk a lot about this on my site. I know that d-mannose can't help a small percentage of people but it's always worth a try. D-mannose is the same concept as cranbery juice but much stronger and effective.

This happened when I got treated for Trich. Antibiotics tend to cause yeast infections. Stop by a Walgreens, CVS, Walmart ect., and where you would find feminine hygiene products you will find yeast infection treatments. 1-Day, 3-Day & 7-Day, off brand works fine.
