A few of our readers thought we have been too harsh in the criticism of Dr. George Lundberg. The point was that we should not judge him, since he has the right to his opinion, and instead we should encourage him to see the value of blogs.
We certainly agree that everyone has a right to their opinion. The beauty of blogosphere is that it makes it so easy to share news, views and thoughts. It would be great if Dr.Lundberg embraces blogs. What we really need is to work on synthesis of the best in "classic" peer-review process with the new capabilities afforded by blogs to devise the 21st century model for scientific and medical communication.
At some point the "mainstream medical media" will have to accept the idea that open communication cannot be stopped and they have to learn to give up control. Openness always wins in the end.
