Updated links to websites that may grease your thinking about alternative careers to clinical practice.

It’ll take more than web surfing to carve out new career options but it is a safe and comfortable place to start the journey. With that in mind I’ve updated the links below from earlier versions of this posting which first appeared in November 2005 and was updated in February 2007.

Lots of doctors are concerned that however highly developed their skill set it is not transferable outside of the clinical realm. I’d encourage you to at least consider some of the opportunities illustrated in the websites attached to this note.

Recognize the value of information. Knowledge that alternative career options exist may even of itself ease your concerns.

The titles of the links are self-explanatory. You’ll find background information, job opportunities, and news of national and regional meetings. Perhaps you’ll have a “oops, I never even considered that” moment.
