Dr. Rahul Parikh is a Pediatrician in the San Francisco Bay Area. He regularly writes and blogs about medicine and society.
Currently, he writes the Vital Signs column for Salon. His writing has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, and Slate.
Dr. Parikh grew up near Los Angeles, CA. He went to college at UC Berkeley and then attended the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA . While at Tufts, Dr. Parikh helped create the Sharewood Project, a free medical clinic that provides care to homeless and indigent citizens in Boston.
He received his pediatric training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. During that time he spent two months in India working with pediatric residents in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. He currently practice pediatrics with a special focus in adolescent medicine.
Dr. Parikh lives with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he reads everything from the New York Times to Wall Street Journal to comic books, keeps an ever-expanding collection of music (primarily alternative and independent bands), tries to convince his wife to let him buy new electronic gadgets, and regularly gets his butt kicked on the basketball court.
